Well.....

the mini sits in my garage at the moment with no windscreen after a stone chip.

I got the screen out in literally 5 minutes. I wonder if the new one goes in so quickly

So yip a nice new screen is on its way from England, uninsured postage.......................... :?

one thing to point out the car was resprayed two years or so ago. You will note the pictures of the rust under the windscreen! Funny though when i removed the rubber seal the paint had an edge. They (the verkstad)hadn't even bothered removing the screen despite me providing them with a new seal etc. Mother fuckers! !

I am not sure i could control a fiery Scottish temper if i was to go and see them

It was actually pretty good condition under the seal though.

Anyway I won a set of Works style splash guards on ebay.

http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-par ... RP001.html

still undecided whether to fit them.

New windscreen fitted. Found it fairly easy.

Decided to it a set of works style splash guards. Though I wasnt to happy with size of them, so trimmed them by 1/3 and then decided to fit them under the bumper instead of on top, like they should be.

Have been battling with an annoying scraping sound form the front drivers wheel. The noise can be heard mostly under braking. I replaced the wheel bearing on that corner, which went smoothly. But the noise is still there. I suspect it is the CV joint, so will order one soon. Driving me mad.

MINI; MINI PROJEKT = BOOT LINER

After being overwhelmed by inspiration from other forums , who have made their own boot liner, I gave it a try.

I know they don't cost all that much! And expended effort required, means you should really just buy one. However, postage to Sweden was around the same price as the completed board (700 SEK).

There is a guide with templates around the internet. I used it as reference but didnt follow the templates at all. Well i did at first using cardboard, but for whatever reason, they didnt really fit/work with my car. In the template they suggest using quite think MDF 10 mm I think. I went to buy this but couldnt find it in a manageable and transportable size. I also figured it would weigh too much once completed. So I settled for some "fibre board" the stuff you line the bottom of drawers and the back of wardrobes with. It was pretty thin maybe 5mm - but light!

I made some card board templates and then transferred them to the board. Yes that is blood in the corner.

Bild

Patterns all laid out, I added a vertical piece to the floor to keep it all neat. I also had to cut an arch in the back section to accommodate the spare wheel.

Bild

Some speaker carpet - cheep , easy to use and really forgiving, when you male mistakes. Biltema 110 SEK

Bild

Spray glue - highly recommended

Bild

All covered (dog looks amused)

Bild

Made a little trap door, so I can access the battery, I don't use the car in winter so need to get in there pretty regular, for a trickle charger

Bild

Also decided to cut a hole to access the window washer fluid. I mean unless I get a flat, I can't be assed ripping the board out all the time. The washer hole and battery flap are pretty neat - even if I say so myself

All done!

Totally unrelated but I also added some stickers......

It worked out cheaper to use Minisport, they charged around 35 pounds for shipping. Though, they send it uninsured. They do package it really well though!
