its pretty straight forward!

Remove tower bolts (you might need to move the wiper motor out of the way in the passenger side.

Insert the compressor tool, the tool basically threads through the thread on the rubber cone (in your picture), I kept the car on the wheels for this.

Then jack the car up axle stands etc -you then compress the cone which is basically pulling the cone upwards with the tool squashing the cone.

then under the top arm there is a small rubber packer, its square shape and only held on by two cross head screws, it will be covered in mud etc, but it is there! that must be removed to allow the arm to fall enough.

If you have compressed the cone enough you should now be able to remove the alloy trumpet easily.

Then uncompress the cone, it will drop and you should (if you are lucky) be able to get it out of the gap. you might need to lever it out. the thing is depending on how old they are, they squash and flatten a fair bit, changing their shape, making it very hard to get them out. if this is the case you need to remove the top arm (lets hope not).

then you must remove the knuckle joint which, you will find in a little cup in the top arm. you must remove all of this, including the old plastic/nylon cup. Likely this will have perished and will be had to remove, you can pick and scrape most of it out and the rest you can burn out.

Refitting

Cone in, hilo in, knuckle joint greased inside the cup and some copper grease on the outside, to help remove it in the future.

the new cone will be much fatter than the old one, you may need to compress this to get the hilo in, but if you set the hilo to its shortest you should be fine. once in wind the hilo to the required length. In a couple of weeks the rubber cone will settle and the hilos adjusted to suit.
